The small print

If you wish to transfer your number to another runner, please use the self-serve link, which is contained in your original booking confirmation email. You can only transfer your place to another runner online up to the deadline of 23.59 on Sunday 3 May.
Race numbers and timing chips will not be mailed out and must be collected from the registration desk in the hall in Shinfield Infant & Nursery School on the day by 09:00. Instructions for the day will be emailed to you once you have registered.
Strictly NO Personal Stereos/MP3 players/iPods or similar devices to be worn whilst running; this will result in disqualification.
If the race organiser cancels the race, refund options will be confirmed at the time.
For safety reasons, no dogs, buggies, pushchairs or wheelchairs are allowed.

At Honeysuckle Day Nursery we provided a welcoming, happy and safe ‘home from home’ environment for children to play, learn and thrive.

A big thank-you to the many organisations and groups supporting the event. These include Honeysuckle Day Nursery (the lead sponsor) as well as this year’s other sponsors; Parkers and eCapital. Thanks also go to Shinfield Parish Council, Thames Valley Science Park, University of Reading, Volker Highways and Shinfield Scouts. Over the last 40 years, local organisations have played an invaluable role in keeping the event on the road and making it a success.

There is no race parking in and around School Green, or in Millworth Lane.

Shinfield Junior Cross Country Races
11:45am Monday 4th May 2026

The Junior Cross Country Races take place in Langley Mead, which is a 5-minute walk from School Green via Millworth Lane. The races are held on rough alluvial pasture and flood plain alongside the River Loddon, so may well be wet and slippery underfoot. The grass may be long because of University of Reading experiments with rough pasture and wild flowers. There may also be potholes caused by cattle. The races are not chip-timed, and SMS results are not available.

- - 11:45am Blue race – Ages 4,5,6 – 2k, two laps.
  - 12:15pm Green race – Ages 7,8,9 – 2k, two laps.
  - 12:45pm Red race – Ages 10,11,12 – 3.1k, three laps.
  - 12:45pm Yellow race – Ages 13,14,15 – 4.1k, four laps.

Entry is £6 per runner in advance here at https://www.entryhub.co.uk/2026-shinfield-10k or £8 on the day, subject to a limit of 400 runners. All junior runners will receive a medal, and there are trophies for the first three boys and girls in each race. Should the race organiser cancel any or all of the Junior Races, refund details will be confirmed at the time.

One adult only may run with any child in the Blue race – Ages 4,5,6. Children aged 7 or older may not be accompanied. Headphones may not be worn during any race.

Runners should pick up their numbers from the school hall of Shinfield Infant & Nursery School no later than 30 minutes before the start of their race. Full instructions will be emailed out to runners once they have entered.
